THE WAIT IS OVER:

INTRODUCING NEXT GENERATION MASSBOX®

Untitled design (8)

Massbox Raised the Bar in Materials Characterization

Now We’re Raising It Again

Faster, enhanced performance, and ready to further streamline your solid sample chemical analyses.

We didn't update Massbox. We reimagined it. In the next generation of Massbox, every component was tailored specifically for our LALI-TOF-MS process.

What Is Massbox?

Combining unique Laser Ablation Laser Ionization with Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (LALI-TOF-MS), Massbox is an easy-to-use, desktop instrument enabling rapid quality control, failure analysis, and accelerated material development.

Solid Sample Analysis Without Compromise

Why Is Massbox So Powerful in Materials Characterization?

LALI-TOF-MS Technology
Massbox combines a patented dual-laser (LALI) ionization source with Time-of-Flight (TOF) mass analyzer. One laser removes material from a solid sample, a second laser ionizes neutrals; eliminating many of the interferences and matrix effects that plague other techniques.

Complete, Quantitative Elemental Analysis
Simultaneous quantification of all elements from Li to U in a single measurement, including traditionally challenging light elements (C, N, O). Detection capability spans trace concentrations (sub-ppm) to bulk composition (weight percent).

Broad-Scale Elemental Mapping
Pixel-by-pixel elemental distribution mapping across areas up to 90mm × 90mm with adjustable spatial resolution from 5μm to 150μm, revealing microscopic chemical heterogeneities and macroscopic compositional gradients.

Three-Dimensional Elemental Composition
Layer-by-layer compositional analysis through tens of microns of material depth, providing unprecedented 3D chemical characterization without destructive sample preparation or cross-sectioning.

Element Map 1
12-mm by 6-mm elemental maps over a mineralogic thin section. The combination of major & trace elements determines the mineralogy.
Elements Map 2
10-mm by 2-mm elemental maps across an unground black powder sample showing the distribution of key elements within the powder grains.
3D reconstruction of a multi-material additive manufacturing part identifying meltpool mixing & the compositional gradient zone between the two alloys.

And Now With Next Generation Massbox...

Groundbreaking advancements. Transformational results.

Unmatched Versatility
Open-format sample holder with bottom-loading stage brings all samples to a uniform height, allowing components of different sizes to be analyzed in the same session. Variable sample sizes, same seamless session.

Faster Setup, Higher Throughput
Airlock system minimizes venting during sample exchange, cutting vacuum pump-down time to less than 1 minute. You spend less time at the instrument and more time on discovery.

Enhanced Performance
Direct-injection TOF maximizes ion transport efficiency, delivering high sensitivity with minimal material removed. Detect more while destroying less.
